The idea for the this book cover had been brewing on the author’s head for a while. But he could not find the right artist to make his idea come true. When this project came to me, I had two images: one of a crowd (extra’s – no casting) and an image of a person (man) from the back – The lighting did not match and the crowd was scarce. I had to retouch and compose the image, compensate lighting and layout type. I had to also work with the publisher on submitting files to specs, and check final print proofs.
The Challenge
To execute a book cover following the author's own direction. The two elements provided had different lighting, perspective, etc. It was out of the equation to shoot new images.
The Plan
The plan was to add some dramatic effects and divert attention from the real perspective and details from the image.
The Solution
The cover complies with the author's vision and goes beyond by presenting a professional, elegant book cover that will be sold and distributed online and in private events.
